As you probably already know tiered (or layered) skirts are the major trend for the current season and year. If it’s new info for you, then please, read the article about 2020 trends.
The purpose of the current article is to provide you ideas on how to wear or don’t wear tiered skirts. Because we all would like to look fabulous in trendy skirts and would try to avoid common mistakes with them.
First and the major common mistake which you can keep in your mind is that layered skirts can add you a few pounds. So for avoiding that mistake, you should think about tiered dresses with A-line silhouette. Them would hide apple, pear, rectangular figure shapes perfectly. Even women with beautiful sand watch body shape should select that option, because of a tiered skirt with an accent in waistline would make their hips fuller. So, layered dresses can hide a few pounds instead of adding them.

For women who would like to wear tiered skirts in spite of their shapes, I can give an adviсe: you should select a skirt which has a wide first tier – the end of the first tier should be lower than your widest points. It would hide hips by removing attention from them to different parts.
So since we already discussed all possible mistakes, let’s try to check what would perfectly suit your layered skirts.
What: top, blouse, jacket, sweater
Colors:
- if you would like to look visibly taller, then you should wear the same color and texture as your skirt without a belt. Any belt would make you shorter. The Tiered dress without a belt would work perfectly in that case.
- If you would need visibly divide your silhouette (this would make you shorter visibly), then you need to select a different color for the upper part.
Texture: might be the same as a skirt (also, read “Colors” paragraph), but for all other cases I would choose different texture/textiles for skirts and tops. Say, woolen sweater against to tulle skirt, or silky bold blouse against the semitransparent floral skirt.
So, check runway ideas from Chanel, Marchesa, Elie Saab, Chloe, Celine, Armani, Balmain, Etro, Oscar de la Renta, and others and pick ideas for your own tiered skirt.
